Ed Balleisen, Duke’s senior vice provost for interdisciplinary programs, has been named provost at George Washington University, effective July 1. A longtime faculty member and leader behind initiatives like Bass Connections and the MIDS program, Balleisen has helped shape Duke’s collaborative, cross-disciplinary culture and leaves a lasting mark as he steps into this new role.
