Energy Data Analytics Lab Announces PhD Student Fellows

Friday, May 25, 2018

Energy Data Analytics Lab Fellows Energy-related data has exploded in the last decade, offering new opportunities for data-driven solutions to energy problems.

But making the most of this data demands scholars who are both knowledgeable energy experts and practiced data scientists.

To meet this need, the Duke Energy Initiative, in partnership with the Social Science Research Institute (SSRI) and the Information Initiative at Duke (iiD), has established the Energy Data Analytics Lab and the associated Energy Data Analytics Ph.D. Student Fellows program.

The program will support four fellows in 2018–2019 and another four in 2019–2020. Get to know the fellows for 2018–19 on the Duke Energy Initiative announcement here.

Kyle Bradbury, lecturing fellow and managing director of the lab, will also bring his expertise in machine learning and statistical modeling to the Master in Interdisciplinary Data Science (MIDS) program, another collaboration between SSRI and iiD. In Spring 2019, he will teach the Principles of Machine Learning course.

The fellows program is funded by a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. (Note: Conclusions reached or positions taken by researchers or other grantees represent the views of the grantees themselves and not those of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation or its trustees, officers, or staff.)
