What is Community-Focused Advising?
Duke Civic Engagement and the Duke Social Science Research Institute are partnering to offer an opportunity for community-based organizations to build skills and get feedback in evaluation, applied research and empirical/data needs (e.g., survey design / implementation, interview and focus group design / implementation, and foundations of data management) via individualized consultation sessions.

Who is this for?
This is intended for non-profit, public, or community-based organizations/programs based in and serving the Triangle area. This may include state-wide organizations that serve the Triangle area as well as other regions. For example, eligible organizations may include direct service, advocacy, and related funding organizations. Depending on capacity, priority may be given to organizations addressing one or more of Duke's five focus areas: housing affordability & infrastructure; food security and nutrition; early childhood & school readiness; college & career readiness; non-profit capacity. See https://community.duke.edu/priorities/ for more information. (NOTE that this is NOT intended for Duke-based individuals; SSRI offers similar consulting to Duke folks, as available here.)

How can I spread the word?
Please share with your networks! This includes any networks you have within Duke, but please also share outside of Duke networks. This can include personal networks and other community networks.

This is right for me! How do I schedule an appointment?
You can request a session here. Consultation meetings will be held via Zoom and would be made in coordination with your and our schedules.
