Alexandra holds a Ph.D. in political science and has taught at Duke, UNC, UNC-Charlotte, and most recently, at Lafayette College, before joining SSRI founding director John Aldrich in 2003 to plan and develop the Institute. Initially responsible for its day-to-day programming and operations, as SSRI has grown and added staff, she has had the opportunity to focus on coordinating educational programming. Her key responsibilities include organizing workshops and events, and supporting programming focused on improving knowledge and applications of the tools and methods of the social and behavioral sciences.
At the age of 5 Alexandra began horseback riding and grew up competing in United States Pony Club events (and mucking stalls to support her habit). She briefly aspired to ride professionally, but decided the activity made a better hobby than job (though her decision to attend UVA for college was heavily influenced by the beautiful horse country surrounding the university). Today, she squeezes in time to horse around at the barn when she can and enjoys dressage and trail riding.
