Mary's role at SSRI is to assist principal investigators and graduate students in applying for and managing grants and contracts. This includes assisting to develop, prepare, and submit grant and contract proposals and post-award responsibilities, including detailed reconciliation of project budgets; preparing complex budget reports; and preparing adjustments and corrections in assigned project budgets for further review and approval in order to meet project goals and federal requirements.
She enjoys working with the different researchers and their areas of study. It keeps her on her toes! She started working in research at The Jackson Laboratory in Maine. Working with all of the faculty there on their projects gave her an appreciation for the complexities of grants.
In her free time, Mary likes to stretch her creative muscles by knitting, crafting, and working on puzzles. She's the granddaughter of a librarian, so a love of books is in her DNA. She's admittedly a bit of a geek and likes to keep up with tech news — especially Apple. Mary shares her home with a spunky cat and has family in Maine and Charlotte — including an incredibly cute niece and nephew.
