Originally from Virginia and a graduate of Virginia Tech in political science, Mary Robyn worked in DC for the federal government. Longing for a smaller city lifestyle, she headed down to Durham, N.C. In December 1993, Mary Robyn joined Duke University and, for years, has worked at SSRI. As one of SSRI's grant administrators, she focuses on the Center for Child and Family Policy (CCFP), as well as the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience.
During her Duke career, she has worked in seven different areas, with some overlaps. Ask her what she likes most about her long career at Duke, and she'll tell you it's the people. She feels the university is one big family and over the years has made lifelong friends throughout campus.
You won't find Mary Robyn taking it easy after work. Instead, she competes for two local Durham soccer teams (Wasabi and Old Flames) in the fall and spring with Durham Parks and Recreation. She plays both offense and defense.
