In her role as human resources manager, Megh provides HR guidance, support and oversight for the Institute’s core team, as well as the eight interdisciplinary research centers housed under SSRI’s umbrella. Her position provides support and counsel with all aspects of hiring, including job analysis and classification, providing guidance on the interviewing process, assessing salary equity, coordinating visa paperwork, drafting appointment and hiring letters, and, finally hiring and orientating new employees.
Megh can be described as an animal lover, 80's music listener, and world traveler. She is very disciplined, which can probably be traced back to her time in the Navy as a cryptographer (like, secret code?!). She's a big fan of the Navy, and of course, very proud to have served. After finishing active duty, she became a defense contractor for the National Imagery and Mapping Agency in D.C. With the arrival of her little one, she took a few years off to stay at home and then was ready to get back to work. Not wanting to get back into computers/networking/security, she accepted a job in human resources at the local school district, ended up moving to NC (her husband also works at Duke) and took a job at Duke in the Dean’s office. She moved on to work in EcoTeach (part of the Economics department) and recently joined the SSRI administration team as human resources manager.
There isn't a bad thing we can say about Megh...oh wait...there is...she's a big Carolina fan.
