Rachel works with OIT, the University IT Security Office, SSRI, and the social science research community to develop secure mechanisms for storing and sharing data associated with protected research protocols. She started in the IT Security Office in 2002 and in SSRI in 2013. In her IT life, before getting into IT security, she did Windows system administration and computer repair.
A world traveler as a kid, Rachel tries to continue her adventures, working intermittently on a goal of visiting all the U.S. National Parks. With a love a nature and fitness, she has participated in sprint triathlons and 10 mile runs, and also kayaks flat water and coastal areas. Rachel is also a fitness coach, currently volunteers as a trail steward with the Eno River State Park and with the United Way's Regional Initiatives Task Force and Teaming for Technology. In the past, she's taught ESL and is an avid reader, researcher, and life-long student with an MLS. She enjoys the intersections of all these things both personally and professionally.
