SSRI DIRECTOR DON TAYLOR SHARES A STORY ABOUT THE ORIGINS OF BROWNTOWN CROSSROADS
Social Science Dialogues with Professor Don Taylor
SSRI Director Don Taylor shares a story about the origins of Browntown Crossroads, in Greene County, N.C. where he grew up. Learning the history of Browntown helped him to understand how racialized was his upbringing and how that has affected him. He has come to view American history at least in part being defined by a “hierarchy of human value” and he will lead a discussion about whether such hierarchies exist on Duke’s campus today.
