Welcome, Cassandra Boyd!
We are delighted to welcome Cassandra Boyd as the new Deputy Director of Duke University’s Center for Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation (Duke TRHT Center).
Cassandra brings more than 15 years of experience in higher education, spanning student affairs and functional areas including leadership and service, multicultural services, student success initiatives, food insecurity initiatives, and women’s resource centers. This breadth of experience makes her exceptionally well-suited to help lead the complex, community-centered work of the Center.
Cassandra will play a key role in advancing the Center’s mission, overseeing program coordination and assessment, designing and facilitating racial healing practices and workshops, and building relationships with local, regional, and national partner organizations. She will also work closely with the Center Director, Charmaine Royal, on long-term strategic visioning, sustainability planning, and fostering the next generation of students, interns, and volunteers who contribute to and advance this work.

TRHT is a comprehensive, national framework and community-based process designed to eliminate the deeply held belief in a “hierarchy of human value” and to address the historical and contemporary effects of racism. Duke officially joined the TRHT movement in 2017 as one of ten inaugural TRHT Campus Centers selected through a competitive process with support from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Newman’s Own Foundation, and the American Association of Colleges & Universities (AAC&U). The Center has since grown into a cornerstone of Duke’s commitment to social equity, with university leadership continuing to invest in and expand that vision. Cassandra’s appointment and leadership will help carry it forward.
